Slaton, Wendy

Biography

Wendy Slaton began her creative career early in life – driving her mother to distraction with her scavenged trash paper collages. To nurture an alternative outlet, Wendy’s mother plied her with crayons and paints, and hid the glue. Wendy earned a BFA and a MFA from the Meadow School of Fine Arts at Southern Methodist University in
Dallas, Texas.
Wendy’s has a keen interest in interiors, and the people and animals that live in those spaces. Unique perspective, strong colors, and dancing lines are the driving forces of her compositions, pushing some works to a more abstract realm. Color is used to impart emotion. Frequently, there is an underlying theme portraying tenderness, belonging, playfulness, and the mischievous humor of her four-paw subjects.
